The IT infrastructure including the emergency number of SOS AERZTE must be available around the clock. Xelon supported the traditional Swiss IT company Teleinformatik in migrating SOS AERZTE's infrastructure and setting up a geo-redundant 3CX telephone system.

In recent decades, medical facilities have increasingly shifted to larger cities and successors for family doctor practices are hard to find throughout Switzerland. Especially in rural areas, the population has fewer and fewer doctors per person. In 1996, committed physicians in Zurich founded the independent company SOS AERZTE, which today advises and cares for around 20,000 patients per year in the canton of Zurich. SOS AERZTE takes over individual patient visits, consultation hours in organizations and emergency services of Zurich general practitioners.

In view of this important function in healthcare provision in numerous communities in the canton of Zurich, it should be self-explanatory that the IT environment, including SOS AERZTE's emergency telephone service, must be available at all times of the day and night. The company did not want to operate its own infrastructure and outsourced the entire IT and telephony infrastructure to an external data center. SOS AERZTE turned to Teleinformatik Services AG, a traditional Swiss IT company, for external deputization and support in IT matters. "SOS AERZTE's IT environment includes more than ten virtual servers and approximately 80 clients. An important point in the migration was that the IT systems are accessible from anywhere at any time, because most users work either in their home offices or on the road," explains Pascal PĂ©quignot, Head of Operations at Teleinformatik.

Failure safety increases resilience and enables access from anywhere

Teleinformatik migrated SOS AERZTE's IT infrastructure and set up a geo-redundant 3CX telephone system, which increased the fail-safety of the emergency number and guarantees SOS AERZTE employees access to the IT environment at all times, both in the home office and during external assignments. Teleinformatik was supported in this by Xelon. The Zug-based IT infrastructure provider Xelon offers resellers reliability, stability and scalability in the support of their customers' ICT environment.

Support and response times were an important criterion in the migration of SOS AERZTE's infrastructure. PĂ©quignot from Teleinformatik is extremely satisfied with this: "Xelon support responds quickly and competently to all questions." Another key point was the data location in Switzerland. Xelon's infrastructure is located in certified data centers in Zurich as well as Zug, and all data is subject to Swiss data protection laws. as an end customer appreciates not only the reliability of the environment, but also the transparent cost control and predictability of financial resources.
