Setup with backup agent

We explain how to set up the cloud backup in Xelon HQ with a backup agent.

In order to initiate the discovery of client computers, it is necessary to set up and configure a master agent of the Veeam Service Provider Console within the client's infrastructure. The primary role of this master agent is to execute diverse tasks throughout the discovery and installation processes. These tasks include gathering information about identified computers, deploying Veeam Service Provider Console management agents on client machines, retrieving the Veeam backup agent setup file, and transferring it to the respective client computers, among other functions.

Prerequisites needed

You should have received your credentials to the Xelon Backup Console (https://veeambackup.xelon.ch/). Otherwise please contact your Xelon Partner/Representative.

Downloading the Agent

After logging into the Xelon Backup Console (https://veeambackup.xelon.ch/), head to Managed Computers > Download Management Agent

Select the OS, Location and token expiry.

Installation

Install the Veeam Management Agent, by clicking through the installer and accepting the Veeam License Agreements.

After the installation the correct cloud gateway should already be set, otherwise make sure to set it as specified and check that agent status is ✅Connected

Here you can also configure credentials for your remote computer discovery user account. The account must have local Administrator permissions on client computers where you plan to install Veeam backup agents.
