What is a Swiss Cloud from Xelon?

A Swiss Cloud provides Cloud infrastructure and services with a clearly defined location, operating model and contractual responsibilities. Location alone is not enough: architecture, resource model, access, cost, portability, support and evidence of which components the provider operates also matter.

Xelon helps you structure these requirements and choose an appropriate combination of Public Cloud, Private Cloud, virtual machines, Kubernetes and backup.

Which IT teams is Xelon suitable for?

  • IT service providers and managed service providers

Provision infrastructure for customer projects, manage multiple environments centrally and connect your processes through available platform and API functions.

  • Software, SaaS and DevOps teams

Create development, test and production environments, provision virtual machines or Kubernetes clusters and adapt resources to demand.

  • Internal IT organisations

Move your IT infrastructure out of your own server room, plan new Cloud architectures and define which systems should use shared, dedicated or existing local environments.

Xelon may not be the right fit if:

- you primarily need personal photo or document storage;
- you only need a standard SaaS application such as email or office software;
- you want low-cost shared web hosting without creating your own IT infrastructure.

What you can manage with Xelon

HQ_linear
Manage infrastructure centrally
Use Xelon HQ to provision available Cloud resources, manage infrastructure and monitor costs and projects.
Scaling
Plan architecture and migration
Together with Xelon, define requirements, target architecture, responsibilities and Cloud migration steps. This creates a documented workload plan rather than a generic cloud project.
Sicher_linear
Review the Swiss operating model
Xelon provides cloud infrastructure from ISO-certified Swiss data centers. Before the project begins, define where data is stored, processed, backed up and administered.
Implementierung_linear
Make technical responsibility explicit
Define which platform components Xelon operates and what remains with your team-for example, applications, user permissions, data classification and workload-specific security configuration.

How to compare Swiss Cloud providers

  • Data location: where are primary data, backups and replicas stored?
  • Resource model: are resources shared, dedicated or combined?
  • Access: which administrative and technical access do you receive?
  • Responsibility: who owns and manages infrastructure, operating systems, applications, backup and monitoring?
  • Cost model: is pricing based on use, capacity or project scope? Which additional charges apply?
  • Migration: who analyses dependencies, plans the move, tests and defines rollback?
  • Support: which channels, operating hours and response targets are included?
  • Evidence: which certifications, contracts, technical documents and customer references apply to the actual service?

Process: from requirements to an appropriate cloud architecture

1. Collect requirements

Together we evaluate workloads, dependencies, data, users, load profiles, security requirements and the desired operating scope.

2. Select a Cloud model

We compare Public Cloud, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud and Multi Cloud against your requirements.

3. Plan responsibility and Cloud migration

We document target architecture, ownership, migration steps, tests and rollback options.

4. Provision and validate infrastructure

After approval, the agreed environment is provisioned. Access, networking, backup, monitoring and operations are checked according to the project scope before production use.

Frequently asked questions about Swiss Cloud

What is the difference between B2B Cloud and cloud storage?

A B2B Cloud provides infrastructure including networks, virtual machines, platform services and backup. Consumer Cloud storage usually focuses on files, photos, synchronisation and sharing.

Is all Xelon data located in Switzerland?

Yes. With Xelon’s Swiss Cloud, all data remains in Switzerland at all times and is fully subject to Swiss data protection law.

Which Cloud models does Xelon offer?

The current offer includes Public Cloud, Private Cloud, virtual machines and Cloud Backup, plus Cloud architecture planning, Cloud migration and technical-support services.

When should a business use Public Cloud?

When resources must be provisioned flexibly, demand varies or new projects need rapid infrastructure. Applications, user permissions, backup and workload security still require explicit ownership.

When should a business use Private Cloud?

When dedicated resources, planned capacity or specific isolation and architecture requirements justify a project-specific environment.

When should a business use Hybrid Cloud?

When existing or on-premises systems must connect to Public- or Private-Cloud resources and each workload needs to be placed according to dependencies, data, performance, operations and risk.

Does Xelon support Cloud Migration?

Xelon offers Cloud architecture and Cloud migration planning, onboarding and migration services. The exact scope, supported source and target systems, and responsibilities are agreed for each project.
