SME data safe in the cloud?

Just today it was all over the news portals: In a Swisscom glitch, cloud data from several hundred customers was sent into nirvana. In this case, it is an online storage service for private individuals. Is the cloud for SME data and business data safe at all? And what does cloud actually mean? Are there differences or different clouds? We try to provide understandable answers in our SME guide.

Switzerland is a country of SMEs; nowhere in Europe is the density of small and medium-sized enterprises as high as in our beautiful Switzerland. The topics of IT infrastructure, data and cloud are not necessarily core competencies. All hype, insecure and anyway much too expensive? Is my SME data safe in the cloud? I know these conversations with customers only too well! Most of the time SMEs in this country are specialized in an industry sector and have a high focus on your area of expertise.
