Duration DNS Info Change

image

The duration for a DNS information change varies. DNS information is temporarily stored by the providers. It can take up to 24 hours until changed DNS information is completely published on the Internet.

This is due to the decentralized structure of the Domain Name System (DNS). The name servers are registered with the registry immediately after the update. However, the exchange between the name servers can take up to 24 hours, as mentioned above. The time depends on the TTL (Time To Live) of the entry, which defines the validity of the entry in the DNS before it has to be queried again.

In rare cases, especially with larger TTL, it can take up to 72 hours.

What does a DNS server change do?

Better accessibility

If your current DNS server is down, the name can't be resolved and the website won't load. Sure the problem might not last long, but especially when running an e-commerce business, you don't want bad customer feedback because of a DNS problem. Plus, this way you don't have to wait for a response from the provider.

Higher speed

If you are not happy with the current name resolution speed, you can try to achieve faster loading times for your website or webshop. Our DNS servers are generally very fast in comparison. Comparable good DNS servers are the DNS servers of OpenDNS or Google.
